South Fork Nature Center Walk
Time: 10:00 am
Shirley Pratt of Step Back Enterprises, docent for South Fork Nature Center, will lead a walk at 10 am Saturday, April 17. The emphasis of the walk will be "Wild Medicinal and Edible Plants of South Fork." Hikers will see these plants growing in their natural habitat as Pratt demonstrates identification techniques and discusses the historical uses of the plants as food and remedies for diseases of Native Americans of the area and the early European settlers in this region that would later become Cleburne County. Find out some surprising uses for many common plants of fields and forests - blackberries were not only for tasty cobblers.
